- Adobe mortar without Portland cement or asphalt emulsion - clay soil and fine sands with varying degrees of small aggregate no larger than 3/8”.
- Adobe mortar with Portland cement for stabilization, also known as soil cement- clay soil and fine sands with varying degrees of small aggregate no larger than 3/8” with a percentage of Portland cement added to stabilize the internal structure of the block making it very strong even though permeable to water.
- Adobe mortar with asphalt emulsion - clay soil and fine sands with varying degrees of small aggregate no larger than 3/8” with asphalt emulsion added to stabilize the internal structure of the block to make it impervious to the weather,
waterproof or water-repellent not allowing any water to absorb into the adobe block.
